Messkit is not available to download, and there is no waiting list or sign-up. This page exists so the company behind the app is easy to identify while it is being built. When there is something to try, it will be announced here.
What it does
Most kitchen apps ask you to type in your food. Messkit is built around getting the contents of a real kitchen in quickly, and keeping it honest afterwards.
- Add things by scanning them — a barcode, a label, a whole shelf, or a receipt.
- Pooled quantities. Two jars of the same thing are one amount, and an open jar counts for what is left in it.
- Dates that reflect where food is kept. Moving something to the freezer changes how long it keeps, and the app suggests the new date rather than deciding for you.
- Cooking takes stock out. What you cook comes off what you have.
- Built for more than one country. English, Arabic, French and Spanish, right-to-left included, with metric and imperial.
Nothing here is a promise about a release date or a price.
